Kids: Summer Reading Program is about to start
“Dig into Reading” is this year’s theme. Sign up (and plant a seed) Thursday, May 30, from 5:30-7 p.m. Or sign up (and plant a seed) Saturday, June 1, from 9-11:30 a.m., or anytime thereafter at the library.
We have wonderful presentations planned for all of you throughout the summer (even if you’re not registered for the reading program). This year there will be a $5 entry fee per family. If you complete your reading lists, this fee will be returned at the final ice cream party so that you may buy a book at the party.
The seeds you planted will no doubt be plants by then and you may take them home.
Children’s book author to give Legacy Program June 18
Patrick Mader, from Northfield, is a children’s book author and will present the next Legacy Program at our library. He will be here Tuesday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m. with a focus for children (in fact, he’s on our list for presenters for our kids’ reading program) but interesting for all.
He relates positive messages with a rural setting in his multigenerational books, drawing on his rural upbringing with six brothers and sisters on a dairy farm near St. Bonifacius, Mn.
Mr. Mader is now a teacher at Morristown Elementary School in south central Minnesota and lives in Northfield with his wife, Karen, and their two children.
This is a free Legacy Program, funded through the vote of Minnesota citizens in 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s art and cultural heritage.
To all of our volunteers
You rock! Thanks!
Quote for the month
“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates’ loot on Treasure Island and, best of all, you can enjoy these riches every day of your life.”
