Brainerd author Theresa M. (Switajewski) Jarvela, formerly of Pine River, will launch “Home for the Murder,” the second book in her “Tales of a Tenacious Housesitter” cozy mystery series.

Published by North Star Press of St. Cloud, Inc., the first book in her series, “Home Sweet Murder,” introduced Meggie Moore and Shirley Wright, Minnesota baby boomers who have been friends since high school.

In “Home for the Murder,” Moore agrees to housesit for a friend in Key West, Fla. Her husband, Walter, has planned a hunting trip to South Dakota and cannot accompany her. Wright, who vowed never again to become involved in Moore’s housesitting adventures, changes her mind when she learns her husband plans to hunt with Walter.

The working vacation takes a sinister turn when Moore and Wright find a body floating in the homeowner’s swimming pool. Winging their way back to Minnesota they believe they are leaving the murder behind them and are not prepared for what awaits them back home.

Jarvela will launch “Home for the Murder” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Brainerd American Legion Post 255 (708 Front St.).

For tickets and information, call Jarvela at 218-828-8822 or 218-838-6346. Ticket includes a signed copy of “Home for the Murder” and a light meal. Cost is $25 (single) and $40 (couple, one book).

Jarvela will sign books at Book World in Baxter, 15528 Edgewood Drive, from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, June 26.
