Five young women will seek the title of Miss Pequot Lakes at the scholarship pageant scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, in the Pequot Lakes High School auditorium.

Miss Pequot Lakes candidates are Sarah Rudlang, Cheyenne Wilson, Angela Cole, Madison Davis-Biessener and Malyssa Engren.

Their Eagle View Elementary School fourth-grade escorts are Maliah Carlson, Jackalyn Fox, Katie Nelson, Megan Buffington and Leah Johnson.

Three judges will review each contestant’s information before the pageant, as well as conduct an initial one-on-one interview with them. At the event, the Miss Pequot Lakes contestants will be judged on presence in both casual wear and formal wear, as well as to their answers to an impromptu question and a performed talent.

A primary goal of the pageant is to award a college scholarship to the young woman selected as Miss Pequot Lakes and, if funds allow, to other participants. Scholarships are advanced to recipients upon successful completion of their first term of college.

Anyone interested in donating funds to the pageant for scholarships or in volunteering their time or expertise for the pageant may contact Kimberly Ziesemer at 218-851-2764 or Caroljean Weise at 218-568-4425.

Tickets to the pageant are $5 at the door and include a cake and punch reception after the pageant.

The pageant is sponsored by the Pequot Lakes Business/Community Group in partnership with Friends of the Pequot Lakes Community Library.
