Stoddard to perform Feb. 22 in Nisswa

Minnesota musician David Stoddard is the next artist scheduled for the spring series of Grassroots Concerts, bringing his wit and wisdom to the stage on Friday, Feb. 22.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Live Well Nightclub and Coffee Bar in Nisswa.

Stoddard is known as a performer and clinician who travels across the United States, playing mostly house concerts and concert venues. He has won writing contests. He spends time promoting the work of independent singers and songwriters through his radio program, Northern Roots Radio.

The Fergus Falls-based musician is known for a dry wit and instrumental skill.

This summer he looks forward to touring with Karen Mal and Laurie McClain. Mal can be heard harmonizing with Stoddard on his latest recording. She also shared the stage with Stoddard and Ronnie Cox when they performed at the Central Lakes College Cultural Arts Series two years ago.

In March he will play several Midwestern venues with Oregon-based Beth Wood.

The rest of the spring Grassroots Concerts schedule: March 15, step-dancing fiddler April Verch; April 12, multi-instrumentalist Drew Nelson; May 3, evocative songwriter Greg Trooper.

Admission is $10 at the door for adults and $5 for children under 12 with listening attention, when accompanied by an adult. At all shows, seating is first-come, first-served. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Live Well Nightclub and Coffee Bar, 5459 County Road 18, is located next to the school.

Grassroots Concerts are made possible in part by a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council through the Minnesota State Legislature. The series is a 501c(3) non-profit under the Internal Revenue Code.

The concert series welcomes donations of non-perishable food (or cash) donations to the local food shelf.
