Legacy program at Pequot Library to cover history of Minnesota's peonies

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m., Harvey Buchite, a Minnesota peony expert, will share his love of peonies at a Legacy program at the Pequot Lakes Library.

Past president of the American Peony Society, Buchite is an advocate for growing these perennials and, along with his wife, Brigitte, grows more than 600 varieties at their Hidden Springs Flower Farm in southeastern Minnesota.

He will present Minnesota’s grand peony history in a colorful big-screen digital format that allows time for questions from the audience.

Learn a bit of Minnesota’s role in the history of peonies and the development of ever-more-hardy species.

Buchite’s experience spans many years and his first-hand knowledge of growing peonies and developing new hybrids allows him to speak knowledgeably about his subject.

This free Legacy Program is funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota in 2008 that dedicated funding to preserve our art and cultural heritage.
