A Romance of Chocolate slated Feb. 10 in Walker
A Romance of Chocolate featuring A Taste of Coffee & Wine will be from 3:30-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at Northern Lights Event Center, Walker.
Enter a chocolate treat in the Ultimate Chocolate Challenge to win prizes, which will be awarded for taste and presentation. Registration is due by Jan. 30.
Any recipe using chocolate as a main ingredient is welcome. There are two categories in which to enter: Professional for individuals who make and/or sell chocolate for a living; and Amateur, for individuals who make chocolate at home for family and friends.
Participants must submit a printed recipe for the chocolate being prepared with registration information. This will be published in a small chocolate cookbook for the event acknowledging your participation.
They also must bring a tray with 50 sample-sized (approximately 1- by 1-inch) pieces of your chocolate, as well as a 9- to 12-inch wrapped plate filled with your chocolate tastefully arranged that can be auctioned.
Participants will set up tables from 2-2:30 p.m. Feb.10. A table with tablecloth and chairs will be supplied; participants must bring any table decorations or display materials and extension cords as needed.
Those who attend the Romance of Chocolate will be able to sample the variety of chocolate entries in the Ultimate Chocolate Challenge and vote for your favorite. A $10 ticket allows you to choose six entries to sample.
Taste a variety of specialty coffees and wines to compliment the many chocolate sensations. A $10 ticket allows you six samples.
Enjoy live music by local guitar artists Brian Skinness of Terrapin Station in Nevis and Larry Kimball of Walker on guitars.
Take a sweetheart photo with someone you love.
Bid at the auction to take a plate of your favorite chocolates or a date package home to your favorite sweetheart.
Purchase a Chocolatier Cookbook with participant recipes.
All proceeds go to support the Hackensack-Onigum-Walker-Akeley (HOWA) Family Center and Faith in Action for Cass County.
