Lakes Bluegrass Festival band receives Grammy nomination
Special Consensus, three-time performer at the Lakes Bluegrass Festival (LBF) in Pine River, recently was nominated for a Grammy Award for its album “Scratch Gravel Road.” The 55th Grammy Award show is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 10. Special Consensus played in Pine River in 2005, 2008 and 2012.
Other recent award winners were Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers (2012) for the International Bluegrass Music Awards (IBMA) Emerging Artists of the Year. Flatt Lonesome from Jacksonville, Fla., (appearing in 2013) won first place in the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music (SPBMGMA) national band contest, while Jeanette Williams (appearing 2013) also won the 2012 SPBGMA Female Vocalist of the Year.
And, the 2012 band Cumberland River had one of its songs chosen as the Sound track for the FX TV Series, “Justified.”
The eighth annual Lakes Bluegrass Festival is scheduled for Aug. 22-25, in Pine River.
