Nashville Christian artist to perform in Nisswa

Come celebrate the hope of Christmas as Nashville-based Christian singer Mark Smeby brings his annual holiday tour to Nisswa for the first time.

Smeby will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Journey Church.

He will share familiar holiday classics, as well as inspirational, original tunes in this family show.

Smeby, a Twin Cities native, appeared at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa in August, and last fall at Crosslake Lutheran Church.

“I know that Christmas is not the happiest time of year for a lot of people, in spite of the enthusiastic celebration going on around them. The holidays can be a glaring reminder of relatives who have died, relationships that have ended and disappointment with life’s circumstances,” Smeby said.

Smeby’s song “Emmanuel (You Are With Me)” addresses this reality and was featured in the heart-warming holiday film, “The Perfect Gift.” Watch the music video at

“I get emails from people all over the world who have seen this film and resonate with the message of this song, thanking me for writing a song that captures their feelings at this time of year,” Smeby said

Smeby has been in Nashville for 19 years. Since 2010 he has released three CDs, including “Pilgrim Man” (and its powerful, anthemic title track), “Christmas” and the brand new “Hymns For The Journey.”

A freewill offering will be taken. The Journey Church is on County Road 18 in Nisswa, next to the elementary school.
