Senior Katie White was chosen most valuable player of the Pequot Lakes Patriots softball team at a recent banquet.
White was honored for top batting average at .423, and also set a record for career pitching wins with a 54-17 record for the Patriots, who finished 18-7 overall after finishing as runners-up in Section 7AA. She was Class AA all-state second team after pitching 150 innings this spring and posting a 2.33 earned-run average with 141 strikeouts and an 18-6 record.
Senior Kayla Miller received all-state honorable mention after batting .400. White and Miller were both four-year letterwinners.
Other awards were Erin Rudbeck, Patriot award; Emily Wgeishofski, coaches award; Hannah Zimmerman and Haley Wiebolt, co-Golden Glove Award; and Barb Miller and Taylor Crocker, co-most improved.
White, Kayla Miller, Wiebolt and Zimmerman were All-Mid-State Conference picks while Barb Miller, Wgeishofski, Rudbeck and Crocker were honorable mention.
The Patriots received Team Academic Gold while Angela Cole and Kayla Miller both earned all-state academic recognition for a grade-point average of more than 3.75.
"Our five seniors will be hard to replace," said Pequot Lakes coach Bret Sergent. "In the last three springs, we have gone 58-12 overall and 33-1 in the Mid-State with those kids."
Letterwinners were Cole, Madison Galligan, Emilee Buell, Laura Squires, Whitney Marchwick, Crocker, Barb and Kayla Miller, Wiebolt, Zimmerman, Rudbeck, Wgeishofski and White and managers Ashley Whitney and Khloe Wiewel.
