Vogt's Notes: Get ready to 'Get Klicked'
Did you “Get Klicked” at the Crosslake St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Celebration on Saturday, March 15?
Klick is our new photo sharing gallery on our website, pineandlakes.com. You may better know this popular feature as “Spotted.” For years we’ve taken photos at community, school and sporting events and put them on our website in Spotted galleries. You could look at those photos and buy them if you wanted.
With the recent sale of Echo Publishing and the Brainerd Dispatch to Forum Communications Co. of Fargo, N.D., we lost Spotted. Our former owners, Morris Communications Co., owns that program. When we switched our website to our new owner’s server, we lost access to Spotted, as well as to all the photo galleries that were on our website,
Because it was such a popular feature and a favorite of many who visit our website, we immediately started looking for a way to continue to offer photo galleries. The online directors of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal and the Brainerd Dispatch came up with “Klick.”
They brainstormed the name, “Klick,” and decided to stay with the company that provided photo reprints through Spotted. That company is MyCapture.
So how do you find our photo galleries? Simply go to pineandlakes.mycapture.com and “klick” on the photo gallery you want to view. You can also “klick” on the photo slideshow you want to view at the top of our homepage at pineandlakes.com.
You can buy photos through MyCapture. At this time, only newspaper photographers can create photo galleries. But we’re working to find a way for community photographers to share their photos on our websites again as well.
We already have several photo galleries up and waiting for you to check out at pineandlakes.mycapture.com, including the Crosslake St. Patrick’s Day festivities, the Pequot Lakes girls’ basketball team’s section final game, “The Spitfire Grill” Pequot Lakes Community Theater production, Pequot Lakes School PTA carnival, Read Across America event at Pine River-Backus School, World Day of Prayer at Grace United Methodist Church in Pequot Lakes, Pine River-Backus School Family fun Night, Pine River-Backus School Holocaust Project Fair, Road Crew wrestling at the state tournament, Polar Bear Plunge in Breezy Point and Gull Lake Frozen Fore.
Many of us from Echo Publishing walked in the Crosslake parade, handing out candy and “Get Klicked” cards. Did we take your picture and give you a card? Did you find your photo online?
We invite you to take a look at our photo galleries, and be ready to “Get Klicked” at future events. You can also visit brainerddispatch.mycapture.com to find photo galleries on our sister newspaper’s website.
Also know that both newspapers continue to work out bugs that cropped up when we moved our websites to our new owner’s server, including trying to get the search bars back. At times our websites might have some glitches or look different, but we appreciate you sticking with us while we get everything smoothed out.
One more thing we want our readers to know: Our Echo Publishing office in Pequot Lakes is, indeed, open. If you need a newspaper, want to change your subscription address or buy an ad, come in and we’ll be happy to help you.
We are at the office from 8 a.m. to noon weekdays, and you’ll find someone there many afternoons as well.
