Vecchione and Erdahl Duo to present 'Music is for Everyone'

Carrie Vecchione and Rolf Erdahl will present a workshop especially for kids ages kindergarten through third grade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Pequot Lakes Library.

Their original programs blend storytelling, performance and children’s literature about music to bring basic musical concepts and history to life. They are committed to bringing music into the community and have extensive performing and teaching experience.

They are also an award-winning performing duo who are sponsored through the Legacy Program.

This is a free presentation for children ages kindergarten through third grade and their parents, but anyone interested may attend.

Ancestry Detectives 101

to be held at library

A unique, free Legacy workshop, Ancestry Detectives 101, will be offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the library for those interested in tracing their family genealogy. Since the library has only six computers, the class is limited to six unless you can bring your own laptop.

Preregister by calling 568-6181.

For those needing an orientation to the computers and how to access the Internet, a half-hour session will be held at 6 p.m. immediately before the class begins. Rosemary Susens is the instructor.

Literacy and Earth Care Workshop

for children is Oct. 6

Happy Dancing Turtle will present a free workshop for kids ages kindergarten through third grade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the library.

Happy Dancing Turtle is an educational organization focused on sustainable living located in Pine River on the teaching campus with Hunt Utilities Group. The children on this day will make an upcycled quilt. This is a free Legacy Program.

Basket Auction and Social Evening

set Oct. 13

The library’s eighth annual Basket Auction/Social Evening will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Deacon’s Lodge at Breezy Point.

Tickets are $12 per person and may be purchased at the library or from any board member. Tickets are usually available at the door also.

Come to have a good evening with friends. Hors d’oeuvres and sweets are offered by smiling young teens and the cash bar is open. We all have the opportunity to bid on baskets beautifully filled with themed items of great variety and values. It’s a good time to start your Christmas shopping and have lots of fun in the process.
