Two programs to be presented soon
We are fortunate to be presenting two interesting programs very soon. Mark your calendars!
First comes Friday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. This is a free Legacy program presenting local songwriter, singer and guitarist Shannon Murray. Her show is called "People's Music: Songs of the Industrial Workers of the World" and will feature some of her original music, as well as music of the early 1900s.
This event is appropriate for all ages and is funded in part or in whole from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage.
Our second program will take place Saturday, Sept. 6, from 1-3 p.m. This presentation will feature local writer and retired resort owner Ted Leagjeld as he talks about his new book, "Prairie Wind: Rural School."
The book recounts Leagjeld's years as a teacher on the windy prairies of North Dakota. Teaching in one-room schoolhouses, he will share his experiences. He looks forward to the usual question and answer part of the program and will bring books to sell and sign. Juice and cookies will be served.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
As always, thank you to our volunteer crew members who never shirk from duty and always try to help our patrons. You rock!
Thanks, also, to all you brat and hot dog fanciers who had lunch with us at SuperValu, and those who contributed to the donations jar. We added $430 to our asset column, thanks to you.
We really appreciate SuperValu for this contribution to our community.
