Two from class of 1939 attend Pequot Lakes School all-class reunion
About 100 people attended the 41st all-class school reunion Sunday, Aug. 3, in the cafeteria at Pequot Lakes School, including two members of the class of 1939, which was celebrating its 75th reunion.
The two women, Alma Buschmann Christiansen and Dora Olson Keprios, started school together in first grade and one missed only one of the 41 all-class reunions. A third member of their class, Violet Swenson Johnson, was not able to attend this year because she moved to another state to live with her daughter.
There were 39 students in the class of 1939 and, as they said, there were "39 39ers."
Also attending were six members of the class of 1954 celebrating its 60th reunion. Although she was unable to come, special recognition was made for Lelah Demmick, who graduated in 1934 and is the oldest living graduate from Pequot Lakes.
Fourteen members of the class of 1964 were in attendance and each had an opportunity to share what he or she has been doing since graduating from high school.
Election was held for officers. Danielle Holmes was selected as secretary. Next year's reunion will be Aug. 2, 2015.
