Tigers season ends with loss to Menahga
Triston Rubner went 2-3 including a home run and two RBI for the ninth-seeded Pine River-Backus baseball team, but it wasn’t enough as the Tigers lost 7-2 in a North Subsection 6A play-in game against the eighth-seeded Menahga Braves on Tuesday, May 27, at New York Mills.
“This game went just like the rest of our season has gone”, said PR-B coach Steve Snavely, “We don’t have many hits, and then we give up one big inning to the other team.”
The only other PR-B hit was a double by Nick Gravdahl. The Braves had 10 hits and six of the seven runs were earned.
Joe Davidson took the loss for the Tigers. He struck out three, didn’t allow a walk, and gave up five hits in four innings. Nick Meyer was the winning pitcher for Menahga.The Tigers finish 7-12 overall.
