Tigers defeated by B-H-V in third round of Section 6A
The Pine River-Backus Tigers managed just two hits and had six errors against the Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale Raiders as they lost 8-2 in the third round of Section 6A playoffs on Tuesday, May 27.
Only two of the eight runs scored by the Raiders were earned runs. Afterward, Coach Jason Roepke told the team, “We have absolutely nothing to hang our heads about,” he said. “We had a great season and we’ve gone farther this year than ever before.”
B-H-V took an early lead 2-0 in the top of the second inning and PR-B answered with one run in the bottom. The Raiders made it 3-1 in the top of the third and the Tigers scored their last run in the bottom of the third, and stranded three more runners on base to end the inning.Annie Semmler doubled, and Olivia Davidson had a hit and drove in a run for the Tigers.Miah Hansen took the loss. She pitching all seven innings, striking out eight, walking five, and giving up four hits.The Tigers end with an overall record 15-7.
