Tiger Talk: Summer fun at PR-B

Email News Alerts

What was formerly known as Terrific Tuesdays is now a weekly themed summer youth program here in Pine River.

Similar to Terrific Tuesdays, youth will receive the opportunity to engage in fun activities, explore the outdoors and learn from community members. What’s unique about the Pine River-Backus (PR-B) Summer Youth Program is that each week will have a specific theme. From Aqua Adventures to Movie Making & Other Techy Fun, each of the six weeks of programming will involve a variety of activities, hands-on learning, crafts, games and much more.

So, why no longer Terrific Tuesdays? PR-B’s Summer Youth Program is an opportunity to allow for more community collaboration. By expanding the sessions to three days a week (Monday through Wednesday) there will be more opportunities to encourage learning and community member involvement and to use the assets right here in our community.

With the new summer youth program we also have the chance to make available free lunches to the youth involved through grant money from the Bernick’s Foundation given to The Warehouse. Along with The Warehouse, the summer youth program is an active partnership between the Pine River-Backus Family Center, PR-B Schools, AmeriCorps members and Community Education. We are all excited to see this new program bloom over the summer!
