Sheriff reports phone scam
Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reports that his office has received numerous calls from the public on a reported phone scam.
The scam involves members of the public receiving a phone call indicating that the caller is from the Crow Wing County Court Administrator's Office and that they had failed to show up for jury duty and that there is a warrant out for their arrest. The caller then tells people that they have to immediately pay $900 and demands a credit card number.
Dahl assures the public that at no time would the court administrator's office call and demand money over the phone. If any member of the public does receive such a call, he or she should never give out personal or credit card information, and they should immediately call law enforcement and report the incident.
