Schroeder, Burnett are top guns

Freshman David Schroeder and junior Christian Burnett of the Pequot Lakes trapshooting team tied for Top Gun honors during the final regular-season week of clay target league competition on Sunday, May 18, at the Lakeshore Conservation Club range.

Both hit 47 of 50 targets to help Pequot Lakes remain in first place in Conference 7A.

Other top scores for Pequot Lakes were: Jacob Roubal 43, Kirk Johnson 41, Trenton Beyer 44, Brady Evenson 40, Jordan Hall 42, Sam Wallace 46, Zach Lyonais 45, and Austin Mesenbrink 46.

Also in Week 5, Shane Sepin paced the Pine River-Backus trap shooting team with a 46. It was the fourth time this spring that Sepin earned the honor. Kayla Adkins was the top girl with 38.

Pequot Lakes will compete in the state qualifier on Friday, June 6, while PR-B shoots on Saturday, June 7. Both competitions will be in Alexandria.
