Doug Hansen and Mark Liedl will be the Crow Wing County recorder candidates on the Nov. 4 general election ballot after they received the most votes in the Aug. 12 primary election.

Hansen, current deputy recorder who lives in Nisswa, received 1,463 votes. Liedl, Crow Wing County land services director who lives in Breezy Point, received 1,454. The third candidate, Brian Wallin of Pequot Lakes, received 1,271 votes.

The county reported 786 voters did not vote in the county race, which was on the back of the ballot.

Longtime incumbent Kathy Ludenia did not seek re-election.

The unofficial voter turnout percentage in Crow Wing County for the primary election was only 13 percent.

Crow Wing County Deputy Auditor-Treasurer Deborah Erickson said 4,795 voters went to the polls, and that included 270 absentee ballots and 214 new registrations.

Statewide, the unofficial turnout was just 9.799 percent, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office.

An updated list of filings for local city council and school board positions is as follows:

Backus

Mayor: Kurt Sawyer, incumbent; Chuck Dufour.

Council, four-year (two seats): Anne Birge, current council member appointed in 2013; Rae Borst, incumbent.

Council, two-year (one seat): Karl Flier, current council member appointed in 2014.

Breezy Point

Mayor: Tom Lillehei, current council member whose term expires this year. Incumbent JoAnn Weaver did not file for re-election.

Council (two seats): Gary Bakken; Michael Moroni, current council member appointed in December 2013.

Chickamaw Beach

Mayor: Donald Van Vorst, incumbent.

Council (two seats): Murel Backman, incumbent; Wayne Sherwood, incumbent.

Crosslake

Mayor: Darrin Mitchell; Steve Roe, current council member whose term expires this year; Darrell Schneider, incumbent.

Council (two seats): Jeff Bisson, Bradley Nelson, Dave Schrupp, Darrell Shannon, Douglas C. Steele. Incumbent John Moengen did not file for re-election. Peter Abler withdrew his candidacy for Crosslake City Council.

East Gull Lake

Council, four-year (two seats): Jim Ruttger, incumbent; Scott Hoffman, current council member appointed in 2014.

Emily

Mayor: Roger (Buddy) Lund. Incumbent George Pepek did not file for re-election.

Council (two seats): Dan Barrett, incumbent; Russ Gustafson, Laura Leckband; Jan Mosman, incumbent; Bill Spiess.

Fifty Lakes

Mayor: Tim Anick; Richard Schiller.

Four-year council seat (two seats): Steve Biwer; Ken Hersey, current mayor; Steve O'Bryan; Gordy Reller; Jodie Schrupp, incumbent; Fred Strohmeier. Incumbent Les Degner did not file for re-election.

Hackensack

Council (two seats): Gus Kaubisch, incumbent; Deb Rateike, incumbent.

Jenkins

Mayor: Jon Lubke, incumbent.

Council, four-year (two seats): William Ellis, incumbent; Tim Hidde, incumbent; Donna Stricker, current council member appointed in 2014.

Council, two-year (one seat): Charles Hoffman, Christopher Teich.

Lake Shore

Mayor: John Poston, current council member.

Council (two seats): Doug Miller, incumbent; John Terwilliger, current mayor.

Incumbent Susan Amacher did not file for re-election.

Manhattan Beach

Mayor: Paul Allen, incumbent.

Four-year council seat (two seats): Clyde Brodt, incumbent; Marlene Yurek, incumbent.

Nisswa

Mayor: Harold Kraus; John Ryan. Incumbent Brian Lehman did not file for re-election.

Council, four-year (two seats): Don Jacobson; Ross Krautkremer, current council member appointed in June; Joe Meyer, current council member appointed in 2013.

Council, two-year (one seat): Foster "Woody" Haecker; Fred Heidmann; Gregg Sellner, current council member appointed in April.

Pequot Lakes

Mayor: Dave Sjoblad, current council member whose term expires this year. Incumbent Nancy Adams did not file for re-election.

Council, four-year (two seats): Jerry Akerson, incumbent; Gregg Karr; Randy Loukota.

Pine River

Mayor: Tamara Hansen, current council member; Lynn Hollaran. Incumbent Jim Sabas did not file for re-election.

Council, four-year (two seats): Tony DeSanto, incumbent; Mark Edwards; Patty Melby, incumbent.

Council, two-year (one seat): Tammy Hamilton, current council member appointed in 2013; Debra Ostlund, Gary Siltman.

Pequot Lakes School Board

Four-year seat (three seats): Brandon Andersen, incumbent; Derrek Johnson, incumbent; Valarie Wallin, incumbent.

Pine River-Backus School Board

Four-year term (four seats): Lee Aimers; Richie Bean; Katy Lee Botz, incumbent; Leslie Bouchonville, current board member appointed in 2013; Garny Gaffey, incumbent; Jason Marcum, Current board member appointed in 2013; Jerry Peterson; Sandy Poferl, incumbent; Dawn Rubner.

Brainerd School Board (includes Nisswa Elementary School)

Four-year term (three seats): Charles Black Lance of Baxter; Bill Cruz of Nisswa; Tom Haglin, incumbent, of Nisswa; Bob Loreno of Baxter; Ruth Nelson, incumbent, of East Gull Lake; and Chris Robinson, incumbent, of Baxter.

Crosslake Community School Board

The Crosslake Community School Board will hold elections at the school's fall parent-teacher conferences Oct. 21 and 24, and voting is open to parents of students, staff and students over age 18. There are eight positions on the board with two-year terms, including four teacher members, two or three parent members and at least one community member. Community members must not have any affiliation with the school.
