Renegade Chef recipes: Beer Burgers
Makes 3-4 servings
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup dark beer, separated in half
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
2 teaspoons minced fresh garlic
1 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/4 cup minced onion
In a medium bowl, mix the beef, beer, mustard, ginger, garlic, onion salt and pepper. Form the mixture into 3-4 patties.
Heat the butter and oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sauté the burgers about 4 minutes per side for medium. Remove the burgers from the skillet. Add the onions and the remaining 1/4 cup beer to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 1 minute.
Serve the burgers on a heavy Kaiser roll and top with the sauce.
