Though rain persisted throughout the annual Pequot Lakes Pet Parade on Saturday, June 14, 23 participants still made it to the show.

The event was originally organized by Barbara Merritt at the suggestion of Pequot Lakes Mayor Nancy Adams, who also walked in this year's event with her dog, Peyton, and an umbrella.

The event attracted unique animals, including chickens and a hedgehog, as well as pets and owners in costume. Awards were presented by Miss Pequot Lakes Vanessa Lane and members of her court.

Winners were Connor Jansen and Pepper for best costume; Sheridan Wilson and Ed the hedgehog for most unusual pet; Emma Bauernfeind with Annie for pet/owner look-a-like; Brian, Joe and Helene Matzke with Mya, Summit and Brinkley for Best of Show; and Kris Anderson with Zippy for best trick.
