Firefighters are responding to Pine River church fire

Pine River to celebrate Heritage Days Sept. 4-7

Pine River Heritage Days are Thursday-Sunday, Sept. 4-7

. Following are Heritage Days events:

Thursday, Sept. 4

• Tea at the Station from 2-4 p.m. at the Pine River Depot. The theme of this Petticoat Junction Function is "A Stitch In Time," featuring speaker Arlean Rosemore, vintage quilt authority, as well as other history of local quilters from days gone by.

The $25 tax deductible donation is a fundraiser to help sustain the historic Pine River Depot.

Friday, Sept. 5

• Farmer's Market from 2:30-5:30 p.m. downtown.

• Frontier Archive & Historical Tour from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chamber Information Center, featuring free horse-drawn stagecoach rides.

Friday-Saturday, Sept. 5-6

• Historic Pine River Depot open for tours.

Friday-Sunday, Sept. 5-7

• A free historical pre-1830s Encampment at Forbes Park (along Highway 84 in Pine River) featuring tents, tepees, historical demonstrations and more.

• Free Hobo Stew served at noon until gone at the Historical Encampment at Forbes Park. Note this is a new location from previous years.

The drawing for the freezer/meat raffle winner will be held during the Hobo Stew lunch.

Friday-Saturday, Sept. 5-6

• Pine River Quilt Show & More from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pine River First Methodist Church. Lunch will be served.
