Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless will match donations to the Pine River Area Food Shelf in July, up to $5,000. The more funds Pine River Area Food Shelf raises in July, the larger the matching grant from Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless will be.

In 2013, Minnesota food shelves raised more than $1 million with this grant.

The Pine River-Backus (PR-B) Family Center is working with PR-B Schools and The Warehouse to provide activities for students, including a noon meal for more than 75 kids three days per week.

The Pine River Area Food Shelf is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at First Lutheran Church in Pine River, and from 3:30-7 p.m. (instead of daytime hours) the second Tuesday of the month.

Anyone in an emergency situation can find help through the PR-B Family Center at 245 Barclay Ave., Pine River.
