Spectators packed the Pequot Lakes High School Athletic Complex to enjoy dance performances at the Just For Kix (JFK) annual spring show Saturday, April 26.

Dancers from ages 3 to 18 performed a total of 23 routines in the varied genres of dance, including lyrical, hip hop, kick and jazz.

Pequot Lakes JFK director Anna Larson, dancers and fans alike said goodbye to head instructor Alli Spieker and assistant instructors Khloe Wiewel and Shai Peterson, who are headed to college this fall. Spieker, a 2012 Brainerd High School graduate, will dance this upcoming season for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs dance team.

Wiewel and Peterson, both Pequot Lakes seniors, are headed to the University of North Dakota and the University of Minnesota-Duluth, respectively.

The girls received flowers and praise from their pupils, who thanked them for helping to improve their dance skills as well as their confidence. The trio gave a farewell lyrical performance to the song “Pompeii” by artist Bastille.

Larson, who’s been directing the program for 12 years, also received a thank you gift from the students.

As the show wrapped up with a final lyrical routine featuring dancers in grades 2-12 to the song “Let It Go” from Disney’s “Frozen,” Larson teared up.

“I just get so emotional,” she said.
