Pequot Lakes girl lights up room
There are people that just light up a room. They might flash a warm smile, be a good conversationalist, have a wide variety of interests or seem to be smart and interesting.
Chelsey, a fifth-grader from the Pequot Lakes area, has that knack. It’s hard to believe she has remained on Kinship Partners’ waiting list for a mentor for more than a year.
Chelsey lives with her mom, who works full time, but her dad has been working in North Dakota for the past couple years. She rarely sees him for any extended period of time and misses him, fondly recalling four-wheeling, fishing and chumming around outdoors.
Kinship has been trying without success to find a man and woman to come alongside Chelsey to offer her some of those missed experiences. Recently, Chelsey visited the Kinship office and updated her materials. Her eyes lit up when talking about school and how she has enjoyed the independence of fifth grade, switching classes and fractions, friends and the honors reading program.
Her love for the outdoors continues and she dreams of becoming an equine vet and attending horse camp this summer. Age doesn’t matter to this young go-getter, as long as the person is active. Having a few pets to play with would be an added bonus.
And, although sharing time with a male role model is ideal, Chelsey and Kinship would welcome a woman with a passion for fresh air and physical activity.
This young lady comes with a “Satisfaction: Guaranteed” stamp of approval. Call 218-454-8016 to become a mentor.
