Patricia Joan Cummings

Patricia Joan Cummings, age 77 of Aitkin died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Pat was born September 20, 1936 at the Red Door near Malmo, Minnesota the daughter of Elwin and Ann (Algren) Meckley. She grew up and attended schools in Aitkin graduating from the Aitkin High School in 1954. She then attended the Brainerd Community College and worked for Horton Photo Studio in Brainerd. She married William John Cummings on August 15, 1956 in Aitkin. They made their home in Aitkin where she raised her family and she was the book keeper for Cummings Oil and Cummings Transport until 2011 when she retired. She was a member of the Womens Aitkin Jaycees, St. James Catholic Church where she taught religious education classes and helped serve many funeral lunches over the years.

She is survived by her children: Kent (Jane) Cummings of Aitkin; Scott (Karen) Cummings of Aitkin; Laurie Tibbetts of Stacy, Minnesota; Grandchildren: Katie Cummings, John Cummings, Billy Cummings, Kelly Cummings, Kristi Cummings, Mike Tibbetts, Dan Tibbetts, Patti (Chris) Perron; Great Grandchildren: Cameron Tibbetts, Abigail Tibbetts, Morgan Ruschmeier, Isabella Tibbetts; and 1 brother: Terry (Theresa) Meckley of St. Michael, Mn. She was preceded in death by her parents, step father: Russell Dickey, Husband William, Daughters: Leslie and Lisa, two brothers: Tom and Jerry Meckley and sister: Audrey Lucachick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 11 AM from St. James Catholic Church with Fr. David Forsman officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM with a Rosary service at 7 PM at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin and will continue 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Aitkin. www.srtfuneral.com.
