The 19th annual Northwoods Art & Book Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in downtown Hackensack.
Artists and authors will be on both sides of a closed-off street and in the Community Building and Union Congregational Church.
In the children's creative area, children will be able to create an 8 x10 painting to take home and/or have their faces painted
A variety of artists who work with jewelry, fiber, paint, stained glass, clay, metal, garden art and custom wood, as well as photographers will be in the Community Building.
Upstairs at Union Church, there will be authors, poets, illustrators and a Minnesota publisher who will be selling and signing books for all ages and interests.
The popular poetry display will be back at Union Church. Vote for your favorites and then attend the poetry reading at 1:30 p.m.
A special addition this year at Union Church will be Robert Frost poetry readings at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. by Gary Zmolek
The coffee shop in the book arts area will sell flavored coffee, bottled water, cookies and doughnuts from 9-11 a.m. Food vendors will be available all day in the food court area.
Mike's Greenhouse will decorate the entrance with perennials and shrubs, available for purchase.
