There was a sendoff ceremony at 8:00am on the Gull Lake Docks at Grand View Lodge.

The Governor was joined in his boat by Rep. John Ward, current Miss Minnesota Rebecca Yeh and her brother, Philip.

Unfortunately, no one on the Governor's boat caught a fish on todays opener.

Lt. Governor Prettner Solon was joined in her boat by local fishing guide Toby Kvalevog and her son Matt Prettner. Last night, Solon caught her first walleye – and the first fish of the 2014 Governor’s Fishing Opener. Minutes later, she caught her second walleye.
