News of the North - Eatin' beans at 2014 Bean Hole Days
It's that time again for the 2014 annual Bean Hole Days in downtown Pequot Lakes, MN.
On Tuesday, July 8, six giant pots of beans were buried in the ground to cook overnight and were taken out the next day to be served to the public.
Despite growing up in the area, three of our reporters have never had the beans, so this year they tried them.
Bean Hole Days royalty were crowned on Wednesday, July 9; King Bean is Steve Lebar and Queen Bean is Kim Watson.
This week's News of the North ShoutOUT goes to out-going chairs of the event, Bernice Rohde of Lakes State Bank and Jeff Walden of Arctic Vending.
Next years chairs are Cindy Hidde of Stonemark Land Surverying and Kirk Larson of Lakes State Bank.
