Motorcycle Ride for Homeless, Wounded Warriors to stop in Crosslake
The 10th anniversary Motorcycle Ride for Homeless and Wounded Warriors will stop Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion.
This year's 110-mile ride, sponsored by the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, Chapter D, Minnesota, is expected to include more than 150 motorcyclists. The final stop will be the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion where a dinner, awarding of the run proceeds to homeless and wounded, and silent auction will take place.
The Legion is accepting silent auction items. Everyone is invited. For more information, contact Steve Eisenreich at 320-267-0376.
This started as a group of 25 veteran motorcyclists raising money to help feed and clothe homeless veterans, and has now grown to gain state-wide recognition as a premier charity ride in the state, having raised $8,000 last year and more than $65,000 over the past 10 years.
Half of last year's receipts went to the St. Cloud VA's Homeless Outreach Program and the other half went to a local wounded warrior to assist her in getting on her feet.
