Library Column: Happy 10th birthday to us!
It's hard for all of us here to believe, but we are 10 years old this summer.
The Library Board, with board president John Longnecker, will host a Happy 10th Birthday Party from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at the library.
The Pequot Lakes community has been such a huge help in so many ways, from using the library to donating money and books, and on and on. Thank you all so much and we hope that each and every one of you will come help celebrate this amazing event. Please feel free to bring family members. It is indeed something wonderful to celebrate.
10th anniversary Super-Duper Summer Book Sale
We hope to have a fantastic book sale for you this year. It is our 10th anniversary and we've been gleaning books received from our many generous donors. This'll be one you won't want to miss.
Days of the sale will be Thursday, July 3, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, July 5, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"Fizz, Bang, Read"
Hey, kids! Registration for our summer reading program is still open. We've got some wonderful books about science set aside for you to check out and read and also some exciting programs to be presented to you by various people and groups. It's going to be a great summer of reading and learning.
Monthly exhibit-Garden and Art
Beginning Tuesday, June 17, until the middle of July the library will exhibit favorite garden/art objects, as well as gardening books.
Following this exhibit we are scheduled to honor the 90th anniversary of the Milford Mine disaster in Crosby on the Cuyuna Iron Range. Read newspapers with survivors' accounts and books about mining, both historical fiction and nonfiction.
Mountain bike and hiking trails in several woods and fishing areas of mine pits are highlighted for a summer visit to the Crosby-Ironton area.
Help available for property taxes
On Thursday, Aug. 7, from 1-4 p.m., help with property taxes will be available to all who need it. No appointment is necessary.
As always, thank you to our helpful and friendly volunteers. This is our 10th year of running the library totally on volunteer help.
