Letter to the Editor: Stay here in August for the music
Leaving the lakes area in August is a bad idea! Why? Because there are more than 30 events to attend right here in our own backyard, all connected to the Lakes Area Music Festival.
You don't have to travel to the Twin Cities, New York or Europe to hear marvelous classical concerts. The best musicians are coming right to our own Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd. All 100 of them. That's a lot of talented people flying into our area to bring you a month of magical music.
So stay put! Stick around here in August and circle all the Wednesdays and Sundays on your calendars. Especially don't miss the opera "Hansel and Gretel" on Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd and again on Aug. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the same location. The costumes alone will dazzle you.
The most amazing part of this music festival is the price. It's free! Donations are encouraged for those who are able to contribute.
Check out all times at www.lakesareamusic.org.
See you there.
