A man of many tales, Leon Schultes, long time owner of Schultes Greenfish Bait passed away August 11,2014. Leon was a successful bait dealer in the Brainerd Lakes Area for over 70 years. Leon was a proud American, who served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Leon and his wife, Shirley, (toots) loved spending Saturday nights at Little Pine Resort. They gathered with family and friends to share stories, talk about good times, and dance the night away. Axel and the Wheels was his favorite band. Leon cherished the nights he would sing "Okie from Muskogee" with band leader, Don Turcotte.

Leon was a fine writer. He wrote poems, songs, and articles, some of which were published in the Brainerd Daily Dispatch.

Preceded in death by wife Shirley (toots). Survived by his children: Nancy Hamlin, Ardyss Borash, Leon Schultes, Tracey Fredrickson, and Christy Sarangi, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many more family and friends.

Services to be held Friday August 15, 2014 at Nelson Doran funeral home. Visitation will be 10-11:00 am. Service will directly follow at 11:00 am.
