JV wrestlers compete at tourney

The Road Crew middle level wrestlers went to Brainerd to match up with 21 other schools on Sunday, Feb. 2. The Road Crew placed ahead of schools much larger schools such as Brainerd, Bemidji, Little Falls and St. Cloud Tech. Foley was first with 316.5 points and Perham second with 203. The Road Crew had 136.5.

The Road Crew’s Spencer Richards and Justin Neamann were champions while Evan Gravdahl and Devyn Richards placed second.

Adison Harrington (85 pounds) lost his first match, won his second 5-3, and placed sixth. Tim Ryan (90) won his first 6-0, but lost his next two. Eli O Dell (110) lost his first, won his second 12-2 then lost to place eighth. Luke Sescher (120) pinned his first opponent at 1:20 and glued the second at 2:21 before losing in the semifinals. Sescher won 9-4 before losing to place fourth.

Richards (125) won 16-0, had a pin at 1:50 and another pin at 1:11, and won the championship match 5-0. Evan Gravdahl (135) won with pins: 2:18 and 2:04. He lost to the eventual champion 8-5. He came back with a pin at 29 seconds, and placed third with a major decision 16-5. Devyn Richards (140) won with a pin, a major 12-2 and a pin at 2:37. He lost the championship match 15-7. Jace Leabo (155) pinned his first opponent but lost his next two matches.

Justin Neumann (165) won by fall at 1:10 and 56 seconds and the championship match at 1:06. David Schroeder (heavyweight) lost his first match, had a 28-second pin and another fall at 45 seconds. He lost his next contest, but came back to place seventh with a pin at 2:41.
