Hirst to return for Music in the Park Sunday in Longville
This summer's fourth Music in the Park program will feature acoustic guitarist and vocalist Michael Hirst from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the gazebo on the grounds of Salem Lutheran Church in Longville.
Hirst, of Punta Gorda, Florida, is making his second consecutive summer visit to Longville by popular request. A singer and songwriter who performs original songs and hits from a wide range of artists, he is known for his acoustic covers of The Beatles, Eagles, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Willie Nelson, America, The Beach Boys and others.
His wife, Donna, accompanies him with light percussion and backup vocals. He is a master of sound technology, sings duets with it and produces a big sound.
Recent CD albums include "The Other West Coast," a blend of covers and originals featuring his original song "Lost in a Dream," and "No Other Plan" released last summer.
Hirst is working on his next CD album, another blend of original songs and popular covers, scheduled to be released in November.
Admission is free, but freewill donations are appreciated. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic food. In case of inclement weather, the performance will be held inside the church.
Music in the Park is a community outreach activity of Salem Lutheran Church and supported by the Longville Area Community Choir. It is funded in part by grants from Lake Country Power, Arvig Enterprises, Blandin Foundation, Longville Area Community Foundation and Longville Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.
