Flock A Friend (pink flamingo) Fundraiser under way

The Brainerd Lakes Area Women of Today are sponsoring the Flock A Friend fund raiser for the local animal shelter, Heartland Animal Rescue Team (H.A.R.T.).

The rules to Flock A Friend are simple. Pay $1 per pink flamingo and the Women Of Today will migrate the birds from location to location. The flock will remain on one’s lawn until the victim contacts the number on the “Congratulations ... You’ve Been Flocked!” sheet that is mysteriously left behind, or for three days; whichever comes first.

The Women of Today are also offering Flocking Insurance. For $50, one can purchase Flocking Insurance and be assured that no birds will be found on your property.

Anyone interested in participating or just wanting to donate to H.A.R.T. can call Julie Jones at 218-232-8063. A waiting list should be anticipated, as this has proven to be a popular fund raiser.

The Women of Today’s goal is to raise $700. Flocking fees are as follows and must be within 20 miles of the Brainerd water tower:

Small flock (10 flamingos), $10 donation; medium flock (15 flamingos), $15 donation; large flock (20 flamingos), $20 donation; super size flock (30 flamingos), $30 donation; Flocking Insurance, $50 donation.

Flocking will continue into September and the birds will migrate south around Oct. 1.
