Cass County: Burch secures another term as sheriff
A tense race between incumbent Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch and opponent Wayne Tennis, who is Walker's police chief, culminated in a victory for Burch on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Burch secured 7,655 votes to Tennis' 3,817 votes. There were 28 write-in votes.
"It's certainly an honor to be elected again and I'm really looking forward to the next four years," Burch said. "There's a lot of things we're going finish up and accomplish."
Also up for election within the Echo Journal readership area were District 1 Cass County commissioner Neal Gaalswyk, Cass County recorder Kathryn "Katie" M. Norby and Cass County attorney Christopher Strandlie. All ran unopposed.
Gaalswyk received 2,248 votes. There were 16 write-in votes.
Norby garnered 9,405 votes. There were 41 write-ins.
Strandlie got 9,342 votes. There were 72 write-in votes.
