Pequot Lakes middle and high school students (grades 5-12) will go back to class Tuesday, Sept. 2. The first day of school for elementary students (grades K through 4) will be Thursday, Sept. 4.
Following is back to school information for the 2014-15 school year.
In preparation for the school start, parents of new students entering kindergarten through grade 4 are asked to see Teresa in the Eagle View office from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. now through Aug. 15 for registration. Parents of new students entering grades 5-12 are asked to register in the appropriate office (middle level office for grades 5-8; high school office for grades 9-12). Bring the child's birth certificate, immunization records and Social Security number, along with your residence E911 address.
The high school guidance counselor will meet with new students (grades 9-12) by appointment only from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 19-20. Appointments can be made by calling the high school office at 218-568-9210.
Returning students in grades 5-12 may pick up their schedules and locker assignments from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Middle level (grades 5-8): Open house will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. Students and parents are invited to attend to pick up student schedules, visit classrooms, establish or replenish lunch accounts and organize lockers. There will be mini breakout information sessions about various middle level programs. Refreshments will be provided in the cafeteria.
High school (grades 9-12): Open house will be from 3:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28. Students and parents are invited to attend to visit classrooms, establish or replenish lunch accounts and pick up schedule and locker information.
High school: Orientation will be from 1-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in the auditorium. All ninth-graders and new high school students should attend an orientation with the Link Crew, a group of 12th-grade students.
Elementary: Eagle View will not participate in the August orientation/open house. The first day of classes for Eagle View students will be Thursday, Sept. 4. There will not be classes at Eagle View on Tuesday or Wednesday, Sept. 2 and 3. During these two days, parent-student-teacher conferences will be held.
• Parents and students will have a 30-minute conference with the child's teacher.
• Multiple-student families will be scheduled on the same day and in a common block of time.
• Lifetouch Photographers will take school pictures and picture package orders.
• The school nurse will do vision/hearing screenings, as well as other yearly screenings related to health at school.
• Lunch accounts can be established or replenished.
Conference schedules will be sent out in August. Plan enough time to complete the conference, screenings and school pictures (approximately one hour for one child plus 20 minutes for each additional child).
Early childhood programs: An open house and meet-the-teacher for Early Childhood Family Education, School Readiness and Learning is Fun will be from 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, and 9-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the early childhood center on the east end of Eagle View.

The early childhood screening will be Friday, Sept. 5.
Registrations for all fall Pequot Lakes Youth Sports programs are now being accepted at the Pequot Lakes Community Education office. Programs include grades 3-6 football, grades 3-6 volleyball and grades 2-6 soccer.
Registration forms are available on the Pequot Lakes School website at http://pequotlakes.k12.mn.us. Click on the Community Education link, then Youth Sports and the sport of interest. Youth sports registration forms and fees will only be accepted at the Community Education office now through Thursday, Aug. 14.
Registrations after Aug. 14 will be accepted only if space is available and will be assessed a late fee. Questions can be directed to youth sports at 218-568-8090 or Community Education at 218-568-9200.
With a few exceptions, athletic fees for the 2014-15 school year will remain at $100 per student per activity for grades 9-12 and $75 per student per activity for grades 6-8 with no maximum. Fees are based on the level at which the student is participating at the beginning of the season and must be paid before the first practice.
No one will be denied the right to participate due to financial hardship.
Parking fees will remain at $30 for the school year. Parking permits are available in the high school office.
Family activity pass fees remain at $90. The family pass includes all immediate family members in the household - two adults and students in grades K-12 only.
Individual activity passes are available as follows: adults, $30; students (K-12) and senior citizens (60+ years), $20. Activity passes may be purchased online using a Discover, Visa or MasterCard (credit/debit). Passes are also available for purchase in the District Office during regular office hours.
School lunch prices are set at $2.25 for students in grades K-4 and $2.50 for students in grades 5-12. Breakfast prices will remain at $1.55 for grades K-12.
The breakfast/lunch program is on a prepay basis; therefore, neither students nor adults are allowed to charge any meals. All accounts are set up as family accounts, so you need only make one payment to be used by all children in the household.
A minimum balance of $20 is recommended per student for the school start. Food service payments may be made online using a Discover, VisA or MasterCard (credit/debit). Visit the school website at http://pequotlakes.k12.mn.us, click on the Parent tab on the right and then Fee Payments.
New this year: Kindergarten students receive breakfast at no charge. Also, breakfast and lunch are provided free to those children who qualify for free or reduced price meals. (Charges for extras still apply. There must be money in the child's account to purchase extras.)
Applications for free/reduced priced meals are available on the school website at http://pequotlakes.k12.mn.us and in any of the school offices, and may be submitted at any time during the school year. A new application must be submitted each year.

There are no additional fees charged for this service.
Refer to the school supply list when making supply purchases for elementary and middle level students. Detailed lists are available in area stores, may be picked up in any of the school offices or accessed on the school website at http://pequotlakes.k12.mn.us. High school students will need pens and pencils, spiral notebooks, folders and gym clothes (T-shirts, shorts, socks and tennis shoes). Other supplies will be determined by specific class/teacher.
This school-aged child care program is enrolling students in grades K-6. Child care hours during the school year are from 7-8 a.m. before school and from 3-6 p.m. after school.
Kid Konnection is open on many of the non-school days from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Students in grades 5 and 6 may ride the bus from Eagle View to the middle school in the morning, and/or may ride the bus from the Middle School building to Eagle View after school. Busing arrangements should be made by calling the transportation director at 218-568-8541.
