Archie J. Banick

Archie J. Banick, 81, resident of rural Harding, passed away Sunday, August 31 in Brainerd. Archie was born to Stanley and Lorraine (Donek) Banick in Harding, MN on May 3, 1933. He spent a short time as a child in Flint, MI with his parents. They moved back to the Harding area to farm. There Archie attended country school. He spent time working in North Dakota while he was young as well as working at Franklin Industries in St. Cloud. He attended carpentry school at night also. He later purchased a farm north of Harding where he spent most of the remainder of his life.

He was united in marriage to Doreen Hettver October 5, 1957 at Holy Family Catholic Church at Bulldog Lake. They later divorced after many years of marriage. Archie enjoyed gardening, playing accordian and harmonica, woodworking and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his brothers, and cherished how close they were.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Lorraine and brothers, Jerald and Dennis. Archie is survived by three children, Kevin (Jean) Banick of Brainerd, Sheryl (Jay DiMatteo) Christensen of Pillager, and Karen (Tom) Brisk of rural Harding; grandchildren, Krystal Juaire, Jessica Juaire, April (Ben) Vogt, Dylan Christensen, Alexis Christensen, Sierra Christensen, Marie (Jason) Jay, Curtis Brisk and Kayla Brisk; great grandchildren, Kyah, Deryk, Kayden, Riley, Tavin, Olivia, Jocelyn, Trenton, Jenna and Jaden; brother, Gary (Christine) Banick of Pierz, sisters-in-law, Bernice Banick of rural Harding and Kathy Banick of rural Little Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at All Saints Catholic Church, 16898 Carlson Lake Road, Brainerd, MN. Fr. Tony Wroblewski will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Visitation 4-7 Friday with parish prayers 6 pm Friday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Visitation continues at the church Saturday the hour before services.
