Film screening, investments seminar, play auditions slated in Pine River

• John M. Rohr Historic Film Screening: 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, Pine River Depot Freight Room. Fee: suggested donation of $5.
Heritage Group North invites the community to the PIne River Depot to view excerpts from the John M. Rohr film collection shot locally from the 1940s to 1960s.
Rohr was the owner of Pine River's Marlow Theatre. As a cinema photographer, Rohr filmed a large collection of local activities, sports and school events and scenes from the community. This collection has been in storage, unviewed by anyone, for over 50 years.
There will be two events, each showing different footage from this collection,
• Investments: Separate the Signal from the Noise: 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, March. 19, Pine River-Backus High School Room 255. Fee: $5.
Bruce Meade, financial adviser for Edward Jones, will discuss the economy, interest rates and outlook, current trends, ways to prepare for volatility and opportunities in today's market. This class will provide a look at what commonly distracts from what is significant and how to look beyond distractions.
• "Alice in Wonderland" auditions: 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, March 21 and 22, Pine River-Backus High School Choir Room. Fee: free.
Auditions will consist of reading scene selections for Brainerd Duffield's version of the beloved classic. This production is a full-length stage play, not a musical. Director will be Jen Anderson.
