Pine River Library to host children's author Nov. 14
Well, friends and neighbors,
As the weather begins to chill, I remember that I am aging. It is no surprise to me that my older bones begin to ache. What is a surprise, however, is that there is a Legacy Program (as always funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's arts and cultural heritage) about cats!
Yes, "A Thousand Purring Cats," written by Susan Kedzie, children's author, is the next presentation. Ms. Kedzie will talk about her book in the Pine River-Backus Elementary School gym at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14. (Please use door 33.)
She will be reading her playful book, which features a message about the healing power of positive relationships. I am well-versed in said healing power. You, my friends and neighbors, are the source of my healing from early times when I was a foundling.
After the reading, I am told, there will be a fun discussion about the book's message, an age-appropriate art activity and a book signing for those who are interested. Apparently this book is geared toward children 3 to 8 years old. I am older than that, so perhaps it is why I was not invited to attend. Parents of said children, however, are more than welcome.
Just a reminder here:
• The library will be closed Saturday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day.
• The library will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, Thanksgiving eve, and all day on Thursday, Nov. 23, Thanksgiving.
I certainly hope all of you are staying warm as the seasons change.
