Tax services offered at Pequot Lakes Library

AARP volunteers will be on hand again this year to help with taxes. This service is aimed at young people, seniors and those who need financial help.

You must have an appointment, so be sure to call 218-568-6181. The helpers will be here from 1-4 p.m. every Thursday starting Feb. 1.

For all patrons, we no longer have tax forms to give out.

Thank you

As always, thanks to all of our volunteers. You're giving us the gift of yourselves, and that's the best thing you can give.

Notes about this and that

• All of us at the library wish you, our patrons, a most blessed holiday season. If you haven't visited us yet, make that something you'll do now or in the new year. A library card only costs $5, and that card will open up worlds you never dreamed of. Our kids' room is something to behold, and the kids love it.

• Come in and visit our Cozy Corner Book Shop. We have used adult and kids' books for sale, and also games and puzzles, for very reasonable prices.

Dates to note

• Thursday, Jan. 4, 10:30 a.m.: First Thursday book club meeting at the library. Book to be discussed is "Camino Island," by John Grisham. February's book will be "Hero of the Empire," by Candace Millard. The book club is open to anyone interested. There's no need to call ahead.
