Andy's expands to Merrifield
Food is the focus of the new Andy's Bar and Grill in Merrifield, according to business partner Ashley Money.
The Crosslake flagship location includes not only a bar and grill but a liquor store as well.
"Merrifield is more of a bar and grill," Money said. "We want more of a restaurant feel than a bar feel. We do not have a liquor store here."
The new location is at the former Half Moon Saloon, which was purchased, closed for a month of cleaning and remodeling and then reopened as Andy's.
"In Crosslake it is two partners," Money said. "Things were going well there, and they wanted to start a second location. The opportunity presented itself to expand. That's when they had me come along. They thought the timing was right for a second location."
The month-long closing was used to renew the interior with new furniture, cleaning and removal of a persisting smoke smell from before the Minnesota smoking ban.
"I think the biggest feature is just the cleanliness of it now," Money said. "A lot of people said how dirty it was before. Just cleaning, fixing the lighting and replacing the carpeting gave it a cleaner, fresher look."
Money said the ceiling and walls were discolored from smoke, and the carpets were saturated with the odor of cigarettes. With new design choices, the room not only smells better but is better lit.
Patrons will find the popular foods at the Andy's Crosslake location also available in Merrifield, including the Juicy Lucy.
"We use high quality food and have great service," Money said. "We pride ourselves in the food we order and present to our customers, keeping it consistent between the two locations."
