Two Minnesota resorts named best in Midwest

For the third year in a row, two lakes area resorts were named to the Top 10 in the Midwest, according to Condé Nast Traveler.

Nisswa-based Cote Family Destination's Grand View Lodge came in second overall, behind The American Club Resort in Kohler, Wisconsin. Condé Nast's readers gave Grand View a total score of 96.36 out of 100, which ranks it in the top 50 in the nation. The travel website determined the rankings by surveying more than 300,000 travelers.

"It is an honor to have Grand View Lodge receive this award for another year," said Cote Family Destination's Director of Marketing Frank Soukup. "We are thrilled to have been recognized, especially with our total score increasing every year. It shows how great our staff is performing and improving based on our guest feedback. Both resorts being recognized again just shows how important the Brainerd lakes area is to our tourism economy and how endearing our community is for our out-of-town guests."

Madden's on Gull was recognized this year for the third time, receiving the No. 4 rank in the Midwest. Some of the other resorts recognized were Sundara Inn & Spa in Wisconsin, Grand Geneva Resort in Michigan and French Lick Springs Hotel in Indiana.

Cote Family Destination's second property, Tanque Verde Ranch, located in Tucson, Arizona, was the only Tucson-based resort recognized in the Top 10 in Texas & the Southwest at No. 5 with a ranking of 95.37.

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as "the best of the best of travel." Condé Nast calls Grand View Lodge a "quintessential Midwestern escape" and mentions the resort's beautiful championship golf courses and the award-winning spa, which is one of many reasons why guests keep coming back year after year.
